Throughout my visit, it became clear that this wasn't just a place to pass through—it was the heart of the ship, where people naturally gathered throughout the day.
As I continued exploring, I appreciated how Carnival carried the Renaissance theme throughout the vessel. Instead of feeling like another contemporary floating resort with interchangeable spaces, Carnival Pride has a personality that's distinctly her own. I also appreciated that the ship doesn't try to be something it's not. Carnival Pride embraces her character rather than chasing every new trend, and I think that's part of her enduring appeal. Scheduled to debut beginning in 2029, these next-generation vessels will become the largest ships ever built for Carnival Corporation, each measuring approximately 230,000 gross tons with more than 3,000 guest staterooms.
According to Carnival, Project Ace will introduce an entirely new generation of dining concepts, entertainment venues, outdoor gathering spaces, and innovative guest experiences while continuing the company's mission of delivering fun, memorable vacations for guests of every age. Seeing the continued investment Carnival is making in both its existing fleet and future ships left me with one clear impression: this is a cruise line that isn't standing still. If there's one thing Carnival has built a loyal following around, it's food—and after touring Carnival Pride, I can understand why.

The elegant Normandie Restaurant serves multi-course breakfasts, brunches, and dinners in a beautiful setting, while David's Steakhouse provides an elevated specialty dining experience that's ideal for celebrating a special occasion. Guests looking for something different can enjoy handcrafted rolls and Japanese-inspired cuisine at Bonsai Sushi, while Seafood Corner offers fresh seafood favorites for an additional charge. Throughout the day, Mermaid's Grille keeps the buffet stocked with a wide variety of rotating selections, and favorites like Pizza Pirate and the Carnival Deli make it easy to grab a quick bite between activities.
One thing became clear during my visit: Carnival Pride offers far more than the traditional cruise buffet many people expect. Whether you're craving a handcrafted burger by the pool, tacos made to order, an elegant steak dinner, sushi, fresh seafood, or late-night pizza, there's enough variety to keep every meal feeling like part of the vacation itself.

If you only return to your room to shower and sleep before heading back into the action, an interior or ocean view cabin is a wonderfully smart choice.

Entertainment That Fits Every Vacation Style
One of the things I always pay attention to during a ship tour is how the public spaces are designed and who I can picture enjoying them. As I walked through Carnival Pride, it became clear that this is a ship built to appeal to a wide variety of travelers rather than focusing on just one type of cruiser.
I could easily imagine families spending the afternoon by the pools, enjoying waterslides, grabbing burgers from Guy's Burger Joint, or competing in one of Carnival's signature trivia games. Just a few decks away, couples could retreat to the Serenity Adults-Only Retreat, where comfortable loungers and whirlpools provide a quieter escape from the energy of the main pool deck. Meanwhile, groups of friends would have no trouble filling their days with live music, shopping, casino games, or simply relaxing with a cocktail while taking in the ocean views.
As the sun goes down, Carnival Pride shifts into an entirely different atmosphere. The impressive Taj Mahal Theater hosts high-energy Playlist Productions shows, while comedians keep guests laughing well into the evening at the Punchliner Comedy Club. Live music fills several lounges throughout the ship, the piano bar quickly becomes one of the liveliest gathering spots onboard, and the casino offers everything from slot machines to table games for those feeling lucky. Throughout the cruise, themed parties and deck celebrations bring guests together in the way Carnival has become known for—creating an atmosphere that's lively, social, and never takes itself too seriously.
What impressed me most wasn't any single activity—it was the balance. Carnival Pride doesn't try to overwhelm guests with endless attractions or oversized entertainment districts. Instead, it offers enough variety that everyone can create the vacation they're looking for. Whether your ideal day is packed with activities from breakfast until midnight or simply enjoying a good book with the sound of the ocean in the background, I came away feeling that Carnival Pride provides the flexibility to make the experience your own.
Why Baltimore Is One of the East Coast's Best Cruise Ports
One of the things I was reminded of during my visit is just how convenient the Port of Baltimore is for cruise travelers. While many people immediately think of Florida when planning a cruise, Baltimore offers a compelling alternative—especially for those of us living throughout Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware, New Jersey, and the surrounding Mid-Atlantic region.
Instead of booking flights, arriving a day early, paying for airport hotels, and navigating crowded terminals, many travelers can simply load the car, enjoy a scenic drive to the port, and begin their vacation that same afternoon. The cruise terminal is easy to access, parking is straightforward, and embarkation is typically a smooth experience. For many of my clients, that convenience alone can save hundreds of dollars while eliminating much of the stress that often comes with flying.
Carnival clearly recognizes Baltimore's importance as well. After homeporting Carnival Pride in Baltimore for more than two decades, the cruise line announced that Carnival Miracle will join her beginning in November 2027, marking the first time Carnival has based two ships in Baltimore at the same time. The addition reflects Carnival's continued investment in the Mid-Atlantic market and gives travelers significantly more choices without having to travel to Florida.
With two Spirit-class ships sailing from Baltimore, the variety of itineraries expands considerably. Carnival Pride will continue offering year-round seven-day cruises to The Bahamas and Bermuda, along with longer Carnival Journeys voyages ranging from nine to fourteen days that visit destinations including Aruba, Curaçao, Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Kitts, Antigua, Tortola, Martinique, and Carnival's new exclusive destination, Celebration Key. Meanwhile, Carnival Miracle will offer a complementary schedule of seven-, eight-, and nine-day cruises to The Bahamas and the Eastern Caribbean, plus its own selection of 12- and 14-day Carnival Journeys featuring ports such as Dominica, Guadeloupe, St. Maarten, and other Southern and Eastern Caribbean destinations. Together, the two ships will provide Baltimore travelers with the broadest selection of Carnival itineraries the port has ever offered.
As someone who frequently helps clients compare cruise options, I think this is one of the most exciting developments for Mid-Atlantic travelers in years. Having two year-round Carnival ships sailing from Baltimore means more departure dates, more destination choices, and greater flexibility when planning a vacation—all while keeping the convenience of a drive-to homeport. For many travelers, that's a combination that's hard to beat.

Walking off Carnival Pride at the end of my tour on June 14, I realized that my perspective on Carnival had genuinely changed. She's large enough to offer plenty of choices throughout the day, yet small enough to feel comfortable, easy to navigate, and genuinely relaxing.
I also walked away with an even greater appreciation for the Port of Baltimore. For travelers throughout the Mid-Atlantic, the ability to drive to the port, board the ship the same day, and begin your vacation without the hassle and expense of flying is a tremendous advantage. With Carnival Miracle joining Carnival Pride in Baltimore beginning in late 2027, local travelers will soon have even more opportunities to explore The Bahamas, Bermuda, the Caribbean, and beyond from a homeport that's practically in their own backyard.
